From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Feb. 28, 1987:
- Faculty members at Kansas University were up in arms about a 20 percent cut in academic journal subscriptions. "It's one thing to turn off the Xerox machine or cut off the phone," said Sidney Shapiro, professor of law and president of the University Faculty Council. "What can you do without academic information?"
- The Jayhawk Audubon Society and the Wakarusa Group of the Sierra Club were co-sponsoring a meeting to discuss the environmental impact of the proposed south Lawrence trafficway. The panel discussion offered the public a chance to hear from biology experts and some of the agencies involved in environmental impact statements.
