— Kansas University’s softball winning streak reached nine games Friday with a 5-1 victory against Gardner-Webb in the Seahawk Classic. Earlier Friday, the Jayhawks defeated Fairfield, 5-3.

The Jayhawks (9-2) used a four-run fourth inning and a complete game by Morgan Druhan to defeat Gardner-Webb. Rosie Hull, Lexi Bryant and Mariah Montgomery doubled during the fourth, and Maggie Hull drove in a run when she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Druhan (2-0) recorded her second complete game of the season, allowing five hits while striking out six.

Home runs by Marissa Ingle, Montgomery and Maggie Hull powered the Jayhawks past Fairfield. Kristin Martinez (2-0) pitched four scoreless innings in relief to pick up the victory. She struck out two and allowed just two hits.

KU will meet tournament host UNC Wilmington at 11:15 a.m. today.
