Kansas Highway Patrol to conduct a saturation patrol Saturday night in Lawrence, Douglas County

February 24, 2012

Kansas Highway Patrol plans to conduct a saturation patrol tonight in Lawrence and Douglas County.

Lt. Keith Hudson said troopers will be in the area on the lookout for aggressive and impaired drivers.

A grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation is helping fund overtime for extra troopers in the area, he said.

Hudson said the highway patrol was attempting to perform saturation patrols once a month in the area based on the number of arrests they made in similar operations in late December and late January.

Extra traffic is expected in the area today because Kansas University plays the University of Missouri at 3 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse in the final regular-season meeting between Border War rivals before Missouri leaves for the Southeastern Conference next season.

Maybe they will start the patrol before the game starts in hopes to get the good seats.

Oh come on. This is a blatant show of force against people celebrating the win against are arch rival after we shove a win down their throat.

If it's a roadblock, they'll catch 1 person driving on a suspended license and give out 4 DUIs and unlawfully detain 500 innocent people in the process. It's time to put a stop to these unconstitutional searches.

Best joke: What do Tornadoes and MU grads have in Common? They both end up in Trailer Parks. (apology to all who currently reside in Trailer Parks.)
