Power restored on KU campus after mouse causes electrical short

Power was out for a little more than an hour on much of the east side of the Kansas University campus after a mouse caused an electrical short on Tuesday afternoon, said Jill Jess, a KU spokeswoman.

Jess said the buildings affected included but weren’t limited to Bailey, Blake, Dyche, Fraser, Lippincott, Smith, Spooner, Twente and Wesley halls, as well as Spencer Museum, Watson Library, Kansas Union and some or all scholarship halls.

The outage began about 2:10 p.m., and power was restored to buildings gradually, with all power being restored at 3:30 p.m., Jess said.
