Motorcyclist gets in wreck trying to avoid collision

A motorcycle rider was transported Friday to Lawrence Memorial Hospital from Baldwin City after losing control his motorcycle while attempting to avoid hitting another vehicle.

Baldwin City police Sgt. Mike Underwood said the motorcyclist was traveling north on Sixth Street shortly before noon Friday when a vehicle pulled out of Baldwin Self Storage, 201 N. Sixth St., to make a northbound turn. Although the driver of the vehicle stopped, the motorcyclist locked up his brakes to avoid a collision, losing control and tumbling from the motorcycle.

Underwood said the motorcyclist had “very minor” injuries but was transported to LMH for treatment. He would release no other information Friday afternoon.
