February 15, 2012

Bishop Seabury 66, Spring Hill 64

Bishop Seabury did not trail in the second half after taking the lead early in the third quarter and held on for a two-point win over Spring Hill.

Spring Hill applied full-court defense throughout the game, but Seabury’s six-foot-four sophomore shooting guard Khadre Lane took control offensively and scored 35 points.

Seabury trailed 43-41 after a high-scoring first half, but took a four-point lead in the fourth quarter and never relinquished it.

Marais des Cygnes 45, Veritas 34

Melvern — Elijah Penny scored 10 points and Andrew Currier added nine, but Veritas’ boys basketball team fell to Marais des Cygnes on Tuesday night.

The Eagles led 16-14 after one quarter but scored just four points in the second quarter and five in the third.

Veritas (12-8) will play Friday at Center Place Restoration in Independence, Mo.

Marais des Cygnes 63, Veritas 38

Melvern — The Veritas Christian girls basketball team hung around for a half before eventually falling to Marais des Cygnes Valley, 63-38, on Tuesday night.

The Eagles trailed just 27-24 at the break before MdCV posted a 20-7 run in the third quarter.

Veritas Christian was without two of its rotation players, one because of injury and another because of illness.

Kristen Finger led Veritas, posting 10 points and six rebounds. Brittany Rask added nine points, while Ellen Phillips had seven points and 11 rebounds.

Stormie Bush scored a team-high 19 points for MdCV.

It was a SHOW...Dunks, Jumpers off dribble drive, Long range 3's.. The rest of the team knew it was his night and kept feeding the BEAST.. This team is finally living up to all the pre-season hype.. Great Day to be a Seahawk..

Incredible performance! He had 24 at half .I would like to see a video of those 2 dunks and the alley oop from Gillett to Diaz from the last game.
