From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Feb. 11, 1972:

Kansas University was in the process of planning a day care center. If the facility indeed became a reality, it was intended that it would be used as a training site for students in the early education program of the School of Education. It would serve what was referred to as “a secondary purpose” of providing a much-needed facility for the university community. It was expected that the center would run at a probable annual cost of $17,500 to operate five days a week, 11 hours a day, and part-time on Saturdays. A statement regarding the planned center had been issued last week after a women’s group known as the February Sisters had seized a KU building and had listed among their demands a free day care center to be financed by the university.
