It’s time again for the Lawrence Journal-World’s Only in Lawrence “Larry Awards.”

So if you know of someone who goes above and beyond to help make Lawrence, well, Lawrence, we want to hear about them. In a special section in April, we will honor people who give their time, their talent and their knowledge to others.

We’re looking for folks who give a hand to someone who’s less fortunate or to someone who’s younger or to someone who just needs a boost.

Perhaps the best way to describe them: They’re Lawrence’s unsung heroes. We’ll honor folks in several categories: community, sports, history, arts and learning.

So if you know of someone, please go online and complete a quick nomination process: LJWorld.com/onlyinlawrence/2012/submit/.

We’re eager to hear your ideas.

hitme-I don't know if you are serious or sarcastic, but as I have said many times, there can be names above the street names, in a different color. But the names should only be given to people who are deceased and whose service to Lawrence is especially important over the years. And I still think the first person to be so honored should be Amos Lawrence, who founded Lawrence.

Let's change all the street names in honor of these people.
