A 36-year-old Lawrence man was charged with aggravated assault Friday in Douglas County District Court, accused of pistol-whipping a person two weeks ago at The Pool Room, 925 Iowa St.

Sunthala S. Chanhkhiao was arrested by Lawrence police who responded to a disturbance at the pool hall about 11:30 p.m Dec. 14. During an argument between two people, police said, a suspect pointed a firearm in the face of a victim and injured them by striking them with it. The firearm was recovered and entered into evidence.

Chanhkhiao was released on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court again Jan. 2.
