Eudora Manhattan CHIEF handed Veritas Christian School’s boys basketball team its first loss, 55-22, on Saturday night.
“We hit a very good team tonight,” Veritas coach Gary Hammer said, “and we didn’t play close to our ability, and that’s why it was so lopsided.”
Caleb Holland led Veritas with seven points, and Andrew Currier scored five.
“They got a lot of transition baskets. They just took us out of our game,” Hammer said. “We didn’t shoot well. Every facet of the game, we played poorly. I knew it would be a tough game. I thought we had a chance to win if we played well.”
The Eagles will enter the holiday break with a 6-1 record.
"Six and one sure is a nice record,” Hammer said. “We’re off to a good start.”
Veritas will have an alumni game on Dec. 29, then will play host to Topeka Heritage on Jan. 5.
