For more tidbits from Lawrence’s restaurant scene, check out food reporter Sara Shepherd’s blog, Wined & Dined. While you won’t find it on the menus of many Kansas barbecue joints, lamb’s strong flavor is actually a great match for a bit of char. Boti Kabab — on the tandoori menu at India Palace — consists of chunks of marinated lamb cooked in a clay oven, then served on a sizzling-hot platter with peppers and onions. The seasoning is rich and earthy with a hint of heat, and the portion is big enough to fill two people.
Where to get it: India Palace, 129 E. Tenth St.
What you’ll pay: $13.95 plus tax
Try it with: Nan — which comes with the meal unless you choose rice instead.
Also on the menu: So many, many Indian delights. Curries, kormas, tikka masalas and vindaloos (hot!) of chicken, beef, seafood and lamb are only a few. There’s a menu section devoted to vegetarian entrees, plus desserts and numerous varieties of nan and other Indian breads. India Palace also offers a lunch buffet seven days a week.
