A 30-year-old Sitka, Alaska, man turned himself in to the Douglas County Jail Wednesday evening on a warrant for animal cruelty that allegedly occurred in Baldwin City in June.
According to Baldwin City Police Chief Greg Neis, Jacob D. Stus is accused of beating and killing an animal that came onto Stus' property June 19.
At the time, Stus lived in Baldwin City, but has since moved to Alaska.
Stus was also arrested on a charge of obstructing the legal process, and he's being held on a $2,000 bond.
Stus has not yet been charged.

can't wait to see what kind of trumped up stupid charges will come his way. you get more jail time killing an animal than a person anymore. But don't make me say animal rights groupies and the court system is completely out of whack!

What an odd and peculiar post. Has a human ever gotten capital punishment or killing an animal? Has a human ever gone to jail for life for killing a human being? You need to get a reality check before writing such nonsense.

People who abuse animals are the lowest scum on Earth, and if you can't see that "oletimer", then it may be time for you to move on.

Oletime: "Can't wait to see what kind of trumped up stupid charges will come his way" -- What do you think is a "smart" charge would be for people who beat and kill other animals. What about people who do dog fighting?
"you get more jail time killing an animal than a person anymore" Do you really believe that? Can you cite any evidence to back your assertion?
"But don't make me say animal rights groupies and he court system is completely out of whack!" -- Nobody made you say that, but you did anyway. What does that have to do with this case?
"Gosh i hate armchair complainers" -- Um, no comment.

Was it a Mountain Lion or a Bigfoot that he is accused of killing?

This article is WAY to vague. Are we talking about a wild animal that poses a danger to pets/humans, or somebody's pet?
If a wild animal tried to kill a pet of mine, I'd do anything in my power to kill the attacker. Animals like racoons, coyotes, foxes, etc are not such enjoyable parts of nature when you see how they can easily kill domesticated animals. I would not shed a tear for any of them.
Now if this was not an animal that posed a danger -- such as the neighbors dog or cat, then he is an SOB that should have to deal with the law.

I have to say I agree with none2. Where are the facts in this story? It basically says "This guy was arrested for beating an animal to death. Oh yeah, and he moved to Alaska." Surely more details are available, or they couldn't have charged him!
