A 28-year-old Kansas University student was charged Tuesday with criminal damage after a Monday night arrest for breaking into a home in the 800 block of Ohio Street.
Lawrence police arrested Lee Douglas Robinson shortly before 7 p.m. Monday after a resident reported hearing glass breaking. The resident believed someone had broken into the home, which is split into several apartments, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley.
Robinson was found in the home and arrested, originally on a charge of aggravated burglary. But on Tuesday he was only charged with criminal damage.
Damage to the home — which included an antique door — was estimated at $10,000, McKinley said.
Bond was set at $4,000.

I know that legally the newspaper has to say it, but I love the "allegedly" in this story.

Why does the ljworld choose to list the fact that he was a KU student? I have no problem with this, but the policy should be applied to any person who was arrested. List their profession and where they work or study for everyone, not just students.

Your usual stupid and empty-minded comment. 28 years old; did you even read the article? Uh, not. Go away.

800 Ohio is not your average rental. It's the old hospital building on the corner. The interior is insane - ceilings that musy be 10+ feet high - featuring lots of amazing historic architecture. It could easily cost $10K to replace a door in a house like that.

The Lawrence Restore had a beautiful antique front door last week.
