Police investigated a report of a strong-arm robbery Friday after a man said he awoke disoriented and injured in a downtown alley to find he'd been robbed.
The man said he'd been walking home from the bar area downtown around 2:30 a.m. when he lost consciousness. He awoke Friday morning in an alley to find he'd been robbed and suffered an injury to his face.
Lawrence police Sgt. Ted Bordman said the man had not been able to show police exactly where he woke up, and there is no description of a suspect.

Sounds like he was sucker punched from behind. There is only one group of criminals that use this method of attacking their victums.

Sounds more like he was just so drunk he passed out, and probably hit his face on the ground when he fell.

The being sucker punched from behind is becoming more common although it is usually jerks doing it thinking it is humorous rather than for robbery.

That's what we need....a drunk carrying a gun...but only if he was "standing his ground". Oh, that's the problem, he couldn't stand.

You do realize that you make so sense at all?

Perhaps he wasn't robbed at all, but rather can't find his money because he spent it all at the bars. Getting black out drunk in downtown Lawrence is triple digits expensive.

Not if you avoid Teller's, The Eldridge and Pachamama's.

"uh honey ... my head hurts and I uh don' feel so good ... I fell down.
there was somebody ... somewhere ... downtown somewhere ... and I sorta lost consciousness ... and the money was all gone when I came too ... and I jes dunno ... "
