Replacement of a 12-inch water main that was installed in 1990 has forced the closure of Louisiana Street between 21st Street and Greever Terrace.

City officials say it’s possible that stretch of Louisiana Street could be closed through Friday. A detour has been set up.

Water service to Lawrence High School has not been affected, officials said.

City crews have been responding to multiple waterline breaks as the dry weather has caused significant shifting of the ground to occur.
