Gift establishes KU journalism scholarship

Kansas University alumni Kathy and Tom Plimpton, of Fort Worth, Texas, donated $60,000 to KU’s William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications to establish a new scholarship.

The new Kathleen Donnelly Plimpton Scholarship will focus on women undergraduate journalism majors from Kansas, according to a statement from the KU Endowment Association.

Kathy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from KU in 1972, and Tom earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1971.

The donors have contributed to KU before, establishing the Tom Plimpton Innovation Studio in KU’s Center for Design Research and establishing an innovation fund in Tom’s name to support interdisciplinary research projects at the center.
