A semitrailer driver led Kansas law enforcement on a chase for an hour and 15 minutes through at least four counties Wednesday evening.

Just after 8 p.m., the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received a call that an erratically driving semitrailer was leaving Douglas County on U.S. Highway 59. Franklin County Sheriff’s officers made contact with the semi on Interstate 35 near the 183 exit and pursued after the semi failed to stop. Spike strips were deployed as it entered Osage County, but the strips failed to stop the vehicle. A second set of spike strips was then deployed as the vehicle entered Coffey County, where it was eventually stopped at 9:49.

Jerrod Fredricks, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office public information officer, said that the driver never exceeded 55 miles per hour during the chase and was suffering from an undisclosed medical condition. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday night.
