Eudora man, 36, arrested on charges of indecent liberties with a child

Eudora police early Saturday arrested a 36-year-old man on child sex crime charges after officers interviewed the man late Friday.

Police began investigating the case after receiving a report of an alleged incident involving a 15-year-old child.

“We conducted a preliminary interview of everybody involved, and an arrest was made,” said Sgt. Chris Casagrande, a police spokesman.

The man, a Eudora resident, posted $10,000 bond Saturday afternoon and was given notice to appear in court Aug. 17. According to jail records, he was charged with aggravated indecent liberties with a child and indecent liberties with a child. Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against the man.

According to jail records police also arrested the man on suspicion of indecent solicitation and lewd and lascivious behavior, but prosecutors authorized he not be held on those counts.

Casagrande said the investigation in the case is ongoing. The sergeant said the alleged victim and suspect knew each other.

The Journal-World generally does not identify sex crime suspects unless they are convicted.
