A 53-year-old Lawrence man was flown to an area hospital Tuesday morning after he suffered injuries during a fight in the 900 block of Massachusetts Street.

Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence police spokesman, said that about 1:30 a.m., the man was removed from Jazzhaus, 926 1/2 Mass., after he started a disturbance with another man.

A fight then ensued on the sidewalk outside, and the man reportedly fell onto a concrete planter and suffered facial injuries and possible internal injuries, McKinley said.

There was also an allegation that one person pulled a knife during the incident, but police do not believe it contributed to the man’s injuries.

No arrests were made, pending further investigation, McKinley said.
