Austin, Texas — Texas freshman Parker French threw seven shutout innings and allowed just four hits, as No. 23 Texas blanked Kansas, 3-0, Saturday night in front of 7,308 fans at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
KU freshman pitcher Wes Benjamin scattered 10 hits over 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs, but the Jayhawks had just four hits at the plate.
KU managed just six base runners in French’s seven-inning outing. The Jayhawks twice put two men in scoring position against French, but both times the Texas pitcher worked his way out of trouble.
The Jayhawks (16-24, 4-10) and Longhorns will play the third and final game of the series today at 1 p.m.
