Man pleads no contest to charges in separate battery, escape incidents

A 19-year-old Lawrence man entered no-contest pleas to four charges Friday in connection with two separate incidents earlier this year, Douglas County prosecutors said.

Brandon M. Marcure entered pleas to criminal restraint, misdemeanor battery and intimidation of a witness related to a Jan. 17 incident at an apartment in the 4500 block of Wimbledon Drive.

He was originally charged with aggravated battery for the incident with a woman he once had a relationship with. He also pleaded to attempted aggravated escape from custody after a Feb. 15 incident outside Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He remained Friday in custody at the Douglas County Jail. District Judge Sally Pokorny is scheduled to sentence Marcure on May 7.
