Santorum’s departure doesn’t affect Kansas delegates

April 18, 2012

— Rick Santorum has left the Republican presidential race, but the Kansas delegates he won in the state's GOP caucuses aren't yet free to declare their support for presumed nominee Mitt Romney.

Kansas Republican Party officials say they're waiting for official word from Santorum's now-suspended campaign on whether he'll release his delegates from their commitment to vote for him at the GOP national convention.

The former Pennsylvania senator won the March 10 caucuses in Kansas and claimed 33 of the state's 40 convention delegates. The rest went to Romney.

The Kansas GOP will finish picking the delegates April 28. Several who've already been selected told The Associated Press that they still feel bound to Santorum until he releases them.

I think it will be closer than you expect. Ron Paul (or Newt) would give the President a good run in a real debate, but the newscasters would never allow presidential candidates to really talk to each other. They want the focus to be on the newspeople and the network. Dr. Paul isn't really a Republican, but he acts like one when it's convenient. I kinda like him, but he's too nutty to get very far.

Ron Paul's record in impervious?

Have you seen his newsletters? Or are you like Ron Paul and claim that you never saw them?

Thanks for the chance: Libertarians-- I like their take on individual liberty and repealing laws that try to control humans in personal matters. I think their financial talk about the "gold standard" is pretty silly in a modern economy and they need to be more strategic about global issues. Foreign policy needs attention whether we like it or not.

Don't worry, Conservatives. This election is Mitt Romney's to lose.

Corporations are people, my friend.
