Kansas University police are investigating an incident after a student alleged a stranger pushed her to the ground on campus Monday night as she was leaving Strong Hall.

Maj. Chris Keary, assistant KU police chief, said the 19-year-old woman reported a man shoved her about 9:25 p.m. Monday as she was on the southwest side of Strong Hall. She kicked the man, and they both ran away, Keary said.

The woman reported the incident to police 11:15 a.m. Tuesday. She had a mark on her face, Keary said.

She described the suspect as a tall black male in his 40s or 50s with graying black hair. He was wearing a brown jacket.

Keary said police were still investigating the incident and asked anyone with possible information to call police at 785-864-5900 or KU Crime Stoppers at 785-864-8888.

Or maybe this guy was just a rude person in a hurry bumped into her when she wasn't paying attention, she fell kicked out at him for causing her to fall and thats all it was. When was the last rape in this town? Could be nothing more than a rude jerk and not a attempt at rape.

This innocent female student was attacked on-campus before 10pm. This should be all that is needed to determine what happened. This a-hole was intent on doing sommthinghigm

Perhaps the cranky folks need to get a popsicle and relax. It's a cool and fruity treat on a spring evening.

Glad this was reported. I am frequently near there. Good for her for kicking the guy and ending the attack before anything else happened.

A disappointed Obama voter taking out his aggression?

Now for the question of the day: If she pulled a gun and shot this person would she have been justified in doing so?

It's an attempted rape, you spaz. Maybe it's newsworthy for that reason. Maybe it's newsworthy because others need to be warned.

My wife works close to there. I want her to know about this. Now she does know about it.

Spaz.

This is a traumatic event for the student (and I am soory to hear) but being pushed is hardly news unless this student was rich/famous or if there is more to the story. I bet you that hundreds of people get pushed every day here in good ole L-Town.

Can't wait for the coverage about someone who gave another person the finger. Hey, I hit all 8 lights from 15th and Kentucky up to 9th and Iowa....that is newsworthy

Why did she wait so long to report it? They could have at least searched the area if she reported it immediately.
