From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for April 11, 1972:
Kansas University vice chancellor for business affairs Keith L. Nitcher this week approved the $300,000 budget for parking and traffic reforms on campus. Funds for the costs were to come from the sale of campus parking permits, fines, and revenue from parking meters proposed for the campus. Money was also expected from the sale of parking spaces during football and basketball season and from the sale of temporary parking permits. Some changes proposed by the parking board included turning Memorial Drive and Jayhawk Boulevard into one-way streets. The board was now able to move ahead with plans for a public hearing.
