Osage County officers recover counterfeit $100 bills in Lyndon, Melvern areas

April 10, 2012

Osage County Sheriff’s officers in the last week have recovered several counterfeit $100 bills in the Lyndon and Melvern areas that were used to make purchases at businesses, Sheriff Laurie Dunn said Tuesday.

Similar reports have been made in Coffey County, said Dunn, who asked anyone with information to call Osage County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-OS-CRIME.

A very nice LPD officer came by my buisness two weeks ago and warned us about counterfeit $100's being passed in the area. They pass the pen test because they were using washed out $5 bills that had been reprinted to look like $100's. They looked good but if you held them up to the light a Lincoln watermark on a bill with Ben Franklin is a bit odd.
