Lawrence woman, 39, arrested on aggravated battery charge

A 39-year-old Lawrence woman was arrested early Wednesday morning following a disturbance at a home in the 700 block of Walnut Street.

According to Lawrence Police Department spokeswoman Kim Murphree, police were called about 1 a.m. Wednesday to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where a woman reported she had been struck twice with a blunt object during an argument with another woman. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

About two hours later, the suspect was arrested at a home in the 2800 block of Alabama. She arrested on charges of aggravated battery and criminal use of a weapon, but prosecutors said she likely would not be formally charged until Thursday.
