Brownback dropped from abortion suit

? Planned Parenthood has agreed with Kansas to drop Gov. Sam Brownback as a named defendant in a federal lawsuit challenging a new state law stripping the organization of federal funding for family planning services.

A court document filed Friday by Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri stipulates to the dismissal of Brownback as a defendant. Robert Moser, secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, remains as a named defendant.

The document says all orders and findings remain in effect. The parties agreed not to seek damages or legal costs from each other.

Kansas had earlier sought to dismiss the governor as a defendant.
