Overland Park ? Free State High’s gymnastics team took first place out of 12 teams Saturday at the Shawnee Mission North Invitational. Lawrence High School placed ninth overall.

Free State gymnast Jackie Zaitz finished third in the all-around competition. Free State’s Grace Bartle (seventh) and Annie Soderberg (eighth) also placed.

The teams’ next competition will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Free State Invitational.
