Baldwin City Baker University’s football team improved to 3-1 with a 31-7 victory over Central Methodist on Saturday.
John Babb finished as the Wildcats’ top rusher with 12 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Jake Morse finished 18-for-29 with 183 yards and a TD.
Ryder Werts led the defensive effort with 16 tackles, while Madison Morris and Steven Sanders each chipped in with timely interceptions.
“I pulled Ryder aside late in the game and said, ‘You sure are a field general now,’” Baker defensive coordinator Jason Thoren said. “The guy has played great each and every week. He’s a heck of a football player.”
Babb broke free on a 57-yard touchdown run with 6:26 to go in regulation, and Jake Morse capped it with 4:32 remaining on a one-yard TD draw.
Baker will return to action Saturday when it travels to No. 7 Missouri Valley College.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
