Kansas soccer suffers 3-1 setback

September 10, 2011

— Kansas University’s soccer team suffered a 3-1 setback to Dayton on Friday at the Purdue Boilermaker Challenge, ending the Jayhawks’ five-game winning streak.

Sophomore Caroline Kastor scored the lone goal for KU, which fell to 5-2 overall. Dayton improved to 5-1.

The Jayhawks outshot Dayton, 10-6, in the final 45 minutes but could not find the back of the net. Junior Whitney Berry led Kansas with five shots, including a team-high two on goal. Nine additional Jayhawks tallied at least one attempt as KU held a slight 18-17 edge in shots.

KU will return to action at 10 a.m. Sunday against Purdue or Cal State Northridge at the Purdue campus.
