Angie and Jeremy Portlock, Baldwin City, announce the birth of their daughter, Kennedy Renee Portlock, on July 7, 2011, at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa.

Kennedy has a brother, Kaleb Portlock, 3.

Her maternal grandparents are Leonard and Roxann Heffner, Baldwin City, and her paternal grandparents are Darrell and Terrie Portlock, Newton.

Berenice Wilson, Eudora, will celebrate her 97th birthday on Sept. 18. Birthday wishes can be sent to P.O. Box 430, Eudora, KS 66025.

All former employees and retired employees of Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant are invited to attend the Annual SFAAP Picnic Dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, Building 21. Each family is asked to bring a favorite food for the pot luck dinner and their own table service. Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant was a government owned plant operated by Hercules Inc. It is currently being decontaminated so it can be returned to public use. At its peak, during World War II, it employed nearly 12,000 people on four rotating shifts.

Kristen and Chris Hase, Emporia, announce the birth of their son, Noah Avery Hase, on Aug. 11, 2011, at Newman Regional Hospital in Emporia.

Noah has a brother, Ian, 6; and a sister, Ava, 4.

His maternal grandparents are Dale and Mary Mitchell, Baldwin City; his paternal grandfather is Dale Hase, Americus.

His great-grandmothers are Vivian Hase, Allen, and Mary Gordon, Lawrence.

Casey Harrington graduated May 14 from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn. Harrington earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies. She is a graduate of Lawrence High School and the daughter of Beth McDermott Harrington and Robert Harrington, Lawrence. In addition, Harrington was honored May 13 at the Macalester College Awards Ceremony with a Biology Health Professions Advisory Committee award.
