A 47-year-old Eudora man pleaded no contest to a charge of molesting a 9-year-old boy at his home in March.

Stacy R. Scott entered the plea to aggravated criminal sodomy and was convicted Tuesday.

District Attorney Charles Branson alleged that the crime occurred March 11 when the boy stayed the night at Scott’s Eudora residence. The boy and his mother made the report to Eudora police on March 14, and Eudora officers arrested Scott later.

District Judge Peggy Kittel said Scott faces a maximum penalty of 54 years in prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 14. Defense attorney Jim Rumsey said in court that the defense would ask for the judge to recommend that Scott receive treatment in the state’s sexual predator program in prison.

That'd make him 101 years old when he gets out. For his sake, and the sake of taxpayers, I hope he doesn't serve that long a sentence.

After you have been molested, then you can determine how much time is too much. For the victim, no amount of time is enough. That child will always live with the fear that this man is going to get out of prison some day.

For the child's sake, I hope not. Having seen an ... unfortunate number of people go through this, the rationalization that the victim will live in fear all his or her life is not necessarily true.

Some do. Others don't. And, for the child's sake, I hope that in 20 years, the child isn't living in fear anymore. Avoid the man? Absolutely. Restraining order? Yes. free, from the courts, I hope.

I don't believe that we do society justice with the punishments that we mete out, and ... in rare form, I guess that puts me in agreement with bozo.

wonder why taxes are so high in Kansas. Thank you Kansas department of Corrections. When a person commits a crime they go to prison so we the tax payers can feed them three meals a day. Unlimited cable tv and other perks. We need to go back to the old days go to jail until proven guilty and then you die for your crime.

YES, another pedophile off the streets and in prison. He will die there and also get to experience what it was like for his victim to be raped. Pedophiles like him can never be rehabilitated, they always reoffend and ruin more kids lives. I strongly believe if they forced molesters to get a tattoo of the word molester on their forehead it would stop these monsters from destroying children's lives. My best wishes go out to the little boy whose whole life will be affected by what was done to him. I recently read a post written by a victim of molestation that I would like to share. http://www.peoplesinsight.com/articles/5-my-childhood/206-sexually-abused-as-a-child
