Eudora resident Stacy R. Scott pleads no contest to molesting 9-year-old boy

A 47-year-old Eudora man pleaded no contest to a charge of molesting a 9-year-old boy at his home in March.

Stacy R. Scott entered the plea to aggravated criminal sodomy and was convicted Tuesday.

District Attorney Charles Branson alleged that the crime occurred March 11 when the boy stayed the night at Scott’s Eudora residence. The boy and his mother made the report to Eudora police on March 14, and Eudora officers arrested Scott later.

District Judge Peggy Kittel said Scott faces a maximum penalty of 54 years in prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 14. Defense attorney Jim Rumsey said in court that the defense would ask for the judge to recommend that Scott receive treatment in the state’s sexual predator program in prison.
