Douglas County Bank fund set up to help Lawrence family whose house burned

Douglas County Bank is accepting donations to help a Lawrence family whose northern Lawrence home was damaged in a fire Thursday.

The fire at 3121 Creek Wood Drive caused $175,000 in damage to the house and most belongings of the family of Michael and Melissa Ingalls and their 10-month-old daughter, Tirzah, bank officials said in a statement Friday. Melissa Ingalls is a Douglas County Bank employee.

No one was injured in the fire, and firefighters rescued a dog.

Donations for the Ingalls Family Emergency Fund can be sent in care of Douglas County Bank, 300 W. Ninth St., Lawrence, KS 66044, or dropped off at the bank’s seven locations in Lawrence and Eudora.

Lawrence Douglas County Fire Medical investigators found the fire’s official cause to be undetermined and accidental, but they believed the fire originated near a motorcycle that witnesses said caught fire and was leaning against the house.
