The Kansas Land Trust, which works to preserve the natural beauty of Kansas, will host a mushroom hunt from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at The Earles Easement, a 135-acre section of the Baldwin Woods, in Baldwin City. Sherry Kay, a contributor to the Guide to Kansas Mushrooms, will lead the hunt.

Admission is free for KLT members and $25 for non-members. Anyone may become a KLT member at the event and have the fee waived. For more information, contact Ginny Moore at 785-749-3297 or gmoore@klt.org.

Say what? It's drier than a popcorn fart out there. Spell "straw" as in strawberry. OK, spell "blue" as in blueberry. OK, now spell "freak" as in mushroom. What's that? You say there's no "freak" in mushroom? That's right, there's no freakin mushrooms. You find a oyster or a Maitake out there and I'll eat my hat. Some rain sure would be nice. We is parched.

ps: It don't get no better than Ralph & Roma. Wonderful people.
