Capt. Maurice Knot, Lawrence, will be inducted into the 35th Infantry Division Hall of Fame in September 2012. A World War II hero, he taught at Haskell Indian Nations University and commanded the Lawrence National Guard unit after WWII. He died in 1979 and was buried in Hesper Cemetery near Baldwin City.
