Veritas rolls into playoffs

? Veritas closed out its second consecutive undefeated regular season with a 76-30 football victory Thursday over Flint Hills Christian.

The defending KCAA state champions will host St. John’s Military Academy on Tuesday night in the state semifinals. Veritas defeated St. John’s mid-season, 60-36.

Preston Randall rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries, and Nick Bennett rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries Thursday. Bennett completed seven of 10 passes for 101 yards.

Bryce Boland compiled 14 tackles, including three for a loss, and Alex Lynch had 11 tackles to lead Veritas on defense.

Veritas (9-0) has won 19 straight games heading into the playoffs.

“We got a lot of playing time for everyone on the roster,” coach Doug Bennett said. “It was a good way to end the regular season. We continue to hit hard. We improved in tackling after we had some poor tackling early.”
