Lawrence woman injured in first of two accidents reported Monday morning in Johnson County

A 53-year-old Lawrence woman was taken to an Overland Park hospital Monday morning after she was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 435 near Lackman Road, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The accident report said Rebecca L. Clothier suffered a possible injury when a semitrailer, driven by Walter D. Sutton, 62, of Kansas City, Mo., struck Clothier’s 2009 Toyota Corolla. The crash occurred while traffic was stopped about 8:15 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 435, a half-mile west of Lackman Road.

Sutton also suffered possible injuries, and both drivers wore their seat belts. Clothier was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Another accident occurred to the west, about 90 minutes later.

According to a KHP report, Katherine Reeder, 42, of Drexel, Mo., was in the eastbound lanes of Kansas Highway 10 in a semitrailer just east of Cedar Creek Parkway when she tried to change into the right lane and struck a 1990 Ford Escort driven by a 27-year-old Clearview City man. The Escort spun around, entered the grassy median and rolled over before coming to rest on its wheels.

The car’s driver, Richard Lee Treas III, was wearing his seat belt and was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Reeder, who also wore a seat belt, was not injured.
