Jayhawk volleyball gets first league win

Kansas University volleyball defeated Texas Tech for its first conference victory, Saturday at the Horejsi Family Athletics Center.

Allison Mayfield’s 21 kills paced the Jayhawks (13-8, 1-7 Big 12), who had 60 kills as a team and downed the Red Raiders (14-9, 0-8) in four sets, 22-25, 25-23, 25-11, 25-19.

Kansas also recorded 10 blocks — three more than the Red Raiders, the league’s blocks leader.

The Jayhawks will play next at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when they travel to No. 15 Iowa State.
