Man accused of using vehicle as weapon

A Douglas County Sheriff’s officer arrested a 40-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man on an aggravated assault charge Friday morning for an alleged incident that occurred Thursday involving a rural Eudora man.

Sgt. Steve Lewis, a sheriff’s spokesman, said the suspect was accused of using a motor vehicle as a weapon, but no one was injured. It occurred about 10 p.m. Thursday in the 900 section of East 2300 Road, and according to jail records, an officer arrested the suspect early Friday morning at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

The suspect remained in custody Friday afternoon without bond as prosecutors make a decision about filing formal charges. The Journal-World generally does not identify suspects unless they are formally charged.
