The Kansas Highway Patrol plans extra traffic patrols around the area for Saturday’s Sunflower Showdown game at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence.

After the 11 a.m. game between Kansas University and Kansas State University, the KHP will conduct a saturation patrol in Lawrence, and troopers will be on the lookout for impaired drivers. The Kansas Department of Transportation is funding the extra patrols through a grant.

Troopers also are reminding drivers to use their seat belts and have children in proper safety restraints.

The KHP requests drivers use the West Lawrence exit on the Kansas Turnpike due to construction on a bridge near the east Lawrence exit.

There are not near enough KHP or LPD available for impaired drivers. After hours and hours of tailgating and consumption in the suites high above it would seem 100's could be arrested.

But some days it is okay to be impaired depending on who you are? Am I right?

No. However, leave it to you to turn an article about impaired driving enforcement into a platform to complain about class. It must be terrible to be so angry.

Well, before they added the practice facilities, I wish they would have built a stadium at 23rd and Iowa. We missed the boat. I can't help but seeing that track and realize that we are a division II program.
