The city has sold all of the compost it had available for a sale that originally was scheduled through Saturday.

City officials said about 9:30 a.m. Friday that all compost — which was being offered on a first-come, first-served basis — had been sold.

Another compost sale will be held next spring.

Wondering how much of that was sold to someone who will resell it at a profit.

I've seen what look like landscaper's trucks pulling out with huge trailerloads of the stuff in the past. Maybe the City should start the sale on Saturday and continue it to Monday if there is any left. That way folks with straight jobs have a chance to get over there.

Or limit it to one load per truck. Saturday is a good idea.

I'm sad I didn't get there in time to get compost, but they did say that there would be less this autumn because the weather this Summer slowed down the composting process. I hope that means there will be extra in the springtime.

Went down early Thursday and got a load; not too crowded at that time. As I left I asked the attendant if they had enough to last the weekend, he said that they had enough for all-day Friday. The reason I asked was because I wanted to get a second load which I did later in the day. At that time it was apparent to me that they would run out much quicker than anticipated. What was apparent to me was that several of the rigs getting loaded were landscaper businesses. My assumption was that the compost material was being used to profit a business and not available to the private public. I agree, one load per per per day would be a good idea, as well as some means of ferreting out the businesses.
