Woman taken to hospital after motorcycle accident near Sixth and Mississippi streets

A Lawrence woman was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance Thursday evening after a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of Sixth and Mississippi Streets.

Lisa Johnston was driving a motorcycle west on Sixth Street shortly after 5:30 p.m., when a car coming from the other direction attempted to turn left onto Mississippi Street, cutting Johnston off.

Johnston hit the car, which was driven by a 17-year-old Eudora girl, said Lawrence Police Department Sgt. Troy Squire.

Squire said the investigation was ongoing and a citation for the driver of the car was pending.

As of 8:20 p.m, Johnston was still being evaluated in the emergency room at LMH, said a nursing supervisor. Squire said her injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening.
