One person injured in motorcycle accident, police looking for driver involved

One person was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle-car accident on Iowa Street and University Drive, police said.

Alec Van Zuiden, a 20-year-old Lawrence man, was the motorcycle driver, Sgt. Troy Squire said. Police believe Van Zuiden hit an SUV at about 6:45 p.m., after an unknown third driver swerved erratically through traffic. Only one lane of Iowa Street remained open nearly an hour after the accident.

Police are looking to find the driver who may have caused the accident. Squire said the description from witnesses was that of a male driver in a green, four-door vehicle. He asked that anyone with information call the Lawrence Police Department at 832-7509.
