Veritas blanks KC East, 60-0

Preston Randall rushed for 94 yards and five touchdowns on nine carries as Veritas beat K.C. East, 60-0, to move to 6-0 on Friday at the Eagles Nest. Veritas plays host to Cair Paravel of Topeka next week, then faces St. Marys Academy, which the Eagles played in the state championship last season.

Seven different Eagles players rushed or received the football.

“We just spread the ball around,” coach Doug Bennett said of Veritas’ homecoming game. “Defensively, our defensive line played really well; we had eight tackles for a loss as a team that counted for minus 39 yards.”

Veritas has three games remaining in the regular season.

“We’ve been challenged,” Bennett said about previous weeks against Canton-Galva and St. John’s Military. “It’ll get tougher, especially in two weeks with St. Marys Academy.

“But we’ve still got Cair Paravel next week, and they’re pretty improved.”
