Man injured in motorcycle accident on U.S. Highway 56

A 62-year-old Gardner man was taken to a Topeka hospital Thursday morning after he was injured in a motorcycle accident in southwestern Douglas County.

Sgt. Steve Lewis, a sheriff’s spokesman, said John Moses was headed west on U.S. Highway 56 near Worden when he suddenly went into a north ditch and struck barbed wire and wooden fence posts. The accident occurred at 8:19 a.m. The 2000 Kawasaki motorcycle rolled over, and Moses, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Thursday night, a hospital spokeswoman said.
