Lawrence swim team and lessons: Ad Astra Area Aquatics is a competitive year-round swim team that offers practices for ages 6-18 throughout the week. AAAA is always accepting new members. For information, visit or call Patrick at 331-6940.

Aquahawks openings: The Lawrence Aquahawks swimming team is always accepting new members. The Aquahawks are a year-round USA Swimming-sponsored competitive swim team. The Aquahawks offer a swim lesson program and competitive swim team for all ages. Cheer openings: Lawrence Cheer Athletics has spaces available on the competitive dance and cheer teams for the 2011-2012 season. There are openings for the 11U, 14U, 18U and college cheer teams. Tennis classes, lessons: The Jayhawk Tennis Center is enrolling for fall classes and lessons. JTC uses the Quick Start Tennis Program for ages 3-10 and offers a variety of classes, including Cardio Tennis, for all ages, beginner to advanced. For information, call 749-3200 or email

Adult sports registrations: Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is taking team registration for winter adult basketball, volleyball and dodgeball. Eudora High baseball fundraiser: A pulled pork sandwich dinner will be held on Dec. 8 in the commons area of Eudora High School, during the EHS Basketball Invitational Tournament, to raise funds for EHS baseball. Sandwiches will be $3.50, and sales will begin at 5 p.m.

Soccer camp: A “You are fantastic” girls soccer camp will run December through March in room 215 at Kansas University’s Robinson Gymnasium. The camp will run from 5:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays for kindergarten-fourth grade and Thursdays for fourth-eighth grades. For information, cmail

Schreiner ace: Jack Schreiner recorded a hole-in-one on the 164-yards No. 8 hole at Eagle Bend on Nov. 14. Schreiner used a 3-wood for the ace, which was witnessed by Greg Dannevik, Ray Mendoza and Ryan Cloud.
