This young man is my son. He is severely autistic and also mild to moderately M.R. He lives with his father, my ex-husband, because one year ago I realized I could no longer control his behaviors. Previous to that, Benji and his younger brother lived with me one week, then their father one week, etc. I thought I had done the right thing. My son's name is Benjamin Horton. His (and his father's address) is 1325 E. 25th St. Benjamin had eloped from his father's care at least six times in the past calendar year. I want all LJW readers to know that a lack of supervision enabled my son to elope and get as far as 23rd et Haskell. That is a distance of several blocks from the home. If Benji had merely gone out the door and his father had followed him out immediately, I am confident Benji would not have gone that far. To the driver of the car; it was not your fault! Thank you for being honest and decent enough to stop. Poor Benji should never have been allowed to be gone from his father's home that long without his absence being noticed.
