People’s choice

To the editor:

Cal Thomas’ Nov. 15 column relating the Penn State situation with our nation’s is right on target. 1 Samuel 12:14 (ESV) says, “If you will fear the Lord and serve him and obey his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, and if both you and the king who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God, it will be well.” You refers to “we the people,” and the king refers to those in political leadership.

We are in the early stages of a national election where the “king” and other key officials will be elected to offices. Our and their choices will determine the future course of this nation. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Do we want to live our lives without moral constraints contrary to God’s commandments or do we want to experience a healed nation under God’s direction where “it will be well”? The choice is ours!
