Tonganoxie driver involved in one-vehicle crash at Tee Pee Junction north of Lawrence

A Tonganoxie woman was injured Tuesday night after her vehicle struck a utility pole near Tee Pee Junction north of Lawrence.

Sgt. Steve Lewis, a Douglas County Sheriff’s spokesman, said Victora L. Vinyard, 45, was driving a 2010 Suzuki vehicle north at a high rate of speed, and she missed the turn to go east on U.S. Highway 24-40 toward Tonganoxie. The vehicle struck a utility pole head on at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. Vinyard was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Lewis said.

He said investigators drew a blood sample from Vinyard and are awaiting the results of the test. A hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday that Vinyard was treated and released.
