Motorists near 15th Street and Kasold Drive should expect delays beginning on Wednesday.
Deteriorating pavement conditions at the intersection have cause Lawrence city engineers to call for the roadway to be repaved before winter weather arrives. The intersection will be open on Wednesday, but motorists should expect delays while crews mill the streets. The intersection will be closed to traffic on parts of Thursday during pavement overlaying operations. The intersection is expected to be fully open by Friday morning.
The city is recommending east/west traffic use either Sixth or 23rd streets during construction. Motorists heading north or south are asked to use either Iowa Street or Wakarusa Drive.

Wasn't that stretch just completed about two years ago??? It is concrete and it should be good for another 10 years. The city needs to hold the contractors accountable for sub standard work/materials. Or the city needs a new inspector who passes this substandard work.

I checked with the city. The concrete work stopped south of the intersection. The last major piece of maintenance the city did on that intersection was in 1998, according to folks at City Hall. Thanks, Chad Lawhorn Journal-World
